The Simon Best Books of 2006
The Simon, a publication that prides itself on creating a critical analysis of culture — and allegedly hates end-of-the-year books lists — has taken a new approach to these lists. Instead of what they describe as creating lists "without real discussion of why they are better and more meaningful than other works of comparable merit," they have chosen the non-obvious choices, underappreciated gems. Even better, they describe exactly what makes each work worthy of their praise.
