Best of Outdoor Literature
Ron Watters initially organized this list of books for the Outdoor Literature class that he taught at Idaho State University, but it later became the basis of his anthology The Outdoor Experience. With the help of the National Outdoor Book Award Committee, he came up with a list of books about outdoor adventures, history, and writings that influence outdoor adventure, like Henry David Thoreau's famous book Walden. Activities range from survival and mountaineering to horseback riding and kayaking, and Watters includes a thorough description of each title.
