National Book Award Winners
One of the nation's most prestigious literary prizes, the National Book Award is given by the National Book Foundation.
The awards are given in four categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry and young people's literature. Each winner receives a $10,000 prize. Past winners include "Shadow Country" by Peter Matthiessen (fiction), "The Adventures of Augie March" by Saul Bellow (fiction) and "The Shield of Achilles" by W.H. Auden.
