If you're looking to browse stacks of books, talk with other book fans and hear authors read in person, consider attending a book fair. This site from the Library of Congress offers a listing of book fairs alphabetically or by state. Each entry is listed with a Web site or contact information.
Another great resource is Book Sale Finder, where you can locate book sales and fairs quickly just by clicking on your state. You can also sign up for e-mail notifications when new book sales near you are listed.
